Founded in 1959 as a textile vendor & tailoring venture by Mr T N Ratnasiri. As this unit grew up, young Mr. Nelson foresaw the opportunities open in electrical and electronic trade henceforth with courage & great determination decided to switch over to that new filed of electrical and electronic trade. As a result, a new business venture called Nelsons Electricals was established at Keyzer Street, Colombo 11.

As this business unit runs for many years, more business opportunities were opened up his way, consequently another venture called as Nelsons Trading Company was formed as his son, Mr Kapila Ratnasiri representing the second generation joined him.

Nelsons Trading Company caters to wholesale & retails customers as well and in a short period of time became a leading trading agency in the commercial hub of Colombo (Pettah). Meantime Mr Nelson Ratnasiri stepped into import and distribute electrical accessories ( Balast etc) through his then existing dealer network, at very affordable price to everyone. Further expanding import activities move into electronic equipments, home appliances & consumer durables etc.

In 2005, a separate business entity by the name of Nelsons Enterprises was established to operate import activities. As it moves forward, Nelsons Enterprises was appointed as the sole distributor of globally renowned brand of USHA, in 2007. Since then USHA branded products are distributed through its distributing arm of KIR Enterprises.

Further expanding its horizons, distributorship of reputed Indonesian brand of POLYTRON was awarded in 2013.

Also we are dealing with our own brands such as KANRICH, NECON.
